Prayer of St Teresa

Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body. Christ has no body now on earth but yours.

Prayer of St Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love; for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.

Prayer of St. Ignatius

Dearest Lord, teach me to be generous; Teach me to serve thee as thou deservest; To give and not to count the cost, To fight and not to seek for rest, To labour and not to seek reward, Save that of knowing that I do thy will.

Prayer of St Richard

Thanks be to Thee, my Lord Jesus Christ For all the benefits Thou hast given me, For all the pains and insults Thou hast borne for me. O most merciful Redeemer, friend and brother, May I know Thee more clearly, Love Thee more dearly, Follow Thee more nearly. Amen

Prayer for those who mourn

Lord comfort those who are grieving. Be with those who did not get a chance to say goodbye to their loved ones. Help them in the days and weeks ahead as the tears fall to remember the good times and the life and love that was shared. May they feel your arms around them surrounding them with your love. May they feel your arms around them surrounding them with your love. For nothing, not even death can separate us from the love of God. Amen

Prayer for those in pain

Lord who has felt and understands pain, comfort and hold gently in your arms those who are suffering and need of your tender care. Lift them out of darkness and guide them towards the light of a new and brighter tomorrow. Give them the hope and courage they need and calm their fears, surrounding them with Your love and  peace. Amen

Prayer for those in need

Father there are so many people who are having to call on food banks for help for the first time. So many people who don’t know if they will be able to find a new job or keep up their rent or mortgage payments. So many people who have lost businesses that they have poured their all into.

Lord uphold them, strengthen them and give them hope for the future. Amen

Prayer for healing

Merciful God, we entrust to your tender care those who are ill or in pain, knowing that whenever danger threatens, your everlasting arms are there to hold them safe. Comfort and heal them, and restore them to health and strength; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

New to prayer?

If you are new to prayer don’t feel you have to use special words or kneel down. Prayer is a conversation with God, just be as honest and as open as you can. You may want to go somewhere quiet where you won’t be disturbed or you may prefer to talk to God while you are out for a walk. It doesn’t matter where you are, He will hear you. Just start talking and telling Him what’s on your heart. You may want to spend some time in silence. That’s okay too. The more often you come to God in prayer the more you will find you want to.

If you want someone to pray with you, just get in touch through the website or better still come along on Sunday and we’ll pray with you after the service. Just mention it to the welcomer who greeted you when you came in.

God is love

1 John 4:8
